📢 Explore, Listen, and Play: A Deep Dive into the Toyful Music Festival 2025 Workshops!
The Toyful Music Festival 2025 is just around the corner, and we are thrilled to announce the details for two unique, engaging workshops designed to transform the way you listen, create, and play music. Whether you're an experienced musician or simply curious about creative sonic practices, these sessions offer a gentle yet profound shift in collective play.
🎶 Workshop 1: Toyful Soundscapes – An Exploratory Soundwalk and Sonic Creation
Led by Cypriot sound artist Dimitris Savva, this workshop invites participants to explore Limassol’s historical center through the lens of toyful music. The goal is to transform everyday objects and environmental sounds into a shared sonic performance.
Guided Sound Meditation: We'll begin with a guided sound meditation, inspired by Pauline Oliveros’ deep listening practices, inviting you to attune to the subtle sonic and spatial characteristics of the sounds around you.
Exploratory Soundwalk: From this meditative state, we move into a soundwalk in and around the festival area. Participants are encouraged to listen attentively to the evolving soundscapes as if they were an unfolding musical composition.
Sonic Creation and Performance: Returning to the workshop space, participants will experiment with sound objects and toys. Drawing on the soundwalk and the perception of the soundscape as music, participants will shape a semi-improvised collective sonic performance.

🎹 Workshop 2: “Coincidence — or not?” – A Workshop of Guided Improvisation
This workshop, led by pianist and music educator Iro Menegou, is an invitation to explore the soundscapes of collective play. It is a delicate dance between notation and intuition, experiment and imagination.
The session is designed for musicians of every level who wish to wander through the limits of creation. We will ask fundamental questions about the role of chance in music:
Can a random mistake shift the rules of the game? And if the game is music — might the mistake become creation?
Balancing between sound and silence, play and intention, we will discover how the pulse of the group and the courage of choice can shape unrepeatable moments of music.
When play becomes music and error becomes art, we contemplate whether the performer turns into a composer — or remains, simply, a child.
